Cookies are little files that all websites put on our hard drives to help make our visits quicker, easier and more relevant to us. Some cookies are essential for websites to work and others remember things about you to give you a better and more enjoyable experience online. Read a bit more about the different types of cookies and what they do for you below.

Cookie 1 – “wordpress_test_cookie”

  • What are these cookies for? This cookie tests if your browser supports cookies.
  • When do they expire? This is a session cookie, so it’s deleted when you close your web browser.

Cookie 2 – “pll_language”

  • What are these cookies for? This cookie stores the selected language the site is displayed in so we remember what language you want to view the site in.
  • When do they expire? This cookie will last until you clear your cookies, it sticks around assuming you will always want to see the same language by default

Cookie 3 – “acceptcookies”

  • What are these cookies for? This cookie remembers if you have accepted the cookie policy, so we don’t show you the pop up every time.
  • When do they expire? This cookie will last until you clear your cookies, it sticks around assuming you will always want to see the same language by default

Cookie 4 – “voted-solution-{number}”

  • What are these cookies for? This cookie remembers if you have voted for a specific solution. This cookie is always in the code, but might not be activated if you don’t vote for anything.
  • When do they expire? This cookie will expire after 24 hours. It’s to make sure you don’t vote multiple times for the same solution.

Cookie 5 – “_ga”

  • What are these cookies for? This cookie distinguishes you as a user and how you navigate the website, so we can track that date using Google Analytics.
  • When do they expire? This cookie will expire after 2 years, unless you manually clear your cookies.

“Cookie” 6 – ” field_{13 characters}”

  • What are these cookies for? This isn’t actually a cookie – we used HTML5 Local Storage instead of Cookies as Cookies can only store small amounts of data. This storage is to remember what you have entered when you fill out the application form. To make it easier for you to fill out the form in your own time, we remember the data you inputted. Each field has a key {13 characters} and that’s how we know it is your information.
  • When do they expire? This storage will expire after 2 weeks, unless you manually clear your cookies.
